Update

As you may know, I just had my first exhibition.
I’ve had the pleasure of showing off my work in Galleri eM in wonderful Gamlebyen, Fredrikstad.

My exhibition was called “Ta sats" ("Take flight"), something that I really feel that I've done now.
I must admit that I was terrified on the opening day, but with the support of my friends and my husband Terje, everything went really well.
I had a lot of positive responses and sold ten paintings.

I want to thank all of you who took the time to visit me in the gallery. You all contributed in making this a great experience.

As you can imagine, these past seven weeks have been busy. However, while spending four days a week in the gallery, I still found the time to create some new paintings.

Wounded Butterflies

I have really been on a roll, finishing two paintings this week.
The one I finished last night has been standing in my studio for months… not knowing what to do with it.

I decided to add a couple of Butterflies and from there the painting finally started to come together.
It turned out a little macabre but this is intuitive painting… you never no what you're gonna get.

Butterflies

Creativity in full bloom.

This canvas is big… 100 x 120 cm ( 39" x 47"), the largest one I've completed. I love butterflies and use them often in my work.
The colors are bright and cheerful.

Empty Nest

Just returned home after a week in the UK. Our oldest daughter now officially lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she will be studying for a year. She will for sure have the time of her life in the beautiful and friendly city.
Our youngest daughter moved to Trondheim, Norway in the beginning of August, also to go to university. My husband and I are now alone for the very first time in 23 years.
I must admit that I do feel a little sad, but also very proud of them and know they will be okay.

Having a lot of spare time can be a positive thing for my creativity.

Today I have used some of my new Golden fluid acrylics that I bought in an art shop in Edinburgh.

My first commission

I finished my first commissioned work this morning.
Due to shipping issues, I had to use a loose canvas, which is a new experience for me.

My client fell in love with one of my big canvas paintings "Let your love shine bright" (60x80 cm), but wanted to take it to her holiday apartment on Cyprus. I had to be a little creative and paint on loose canvas, roll it up on a cardboard roll (75 cm), wrap it in bubble wrap so it could fit in a suitcase. It will be framed on Cyprus.
The painting measures 65x105 cm.

I have an order of a large canvas 100x120 cm in blue colors.

New creatures

I'm back after a wonderful vacation. I've had the pleasure of spending time with my family and friends in Denmark and Norway. This summer has been really nice and warm, something we don't experience that often.

It's now time to get back to painting and I must admit I feel a little rusty after four weeks.
The last couple of days I have been playing to get back into the groove.

I've finished this painting today. 17x22 inch. (43x55 cm).

Also, I have sold two paintings this summer!
