Seaweed.

Having a great imagination can be very helpful when you paint the "intuitive" way.
Painting these little seaweed creatures really made me smile since they suddenly appeared out of a purple "mistake".
I now embrace this sentence:
In art there are no mistakes, only opportunities for creativity.

Love You to the Moon and Back.

I'm still playing on the Watercolor paper that I love so much: 300g/m2 and size A3.

Today's painting is inspired by our trip to Sweden this weekend. My husband and I visited our oldest daughter at Lund University were she has been living for the past 4 years. We are so looking forward to having her home for the summer, before she moves to Edinburgh, Scotland.

This painting is for you, Ida!

The Mad Dog.

I must make it clear: Stevie, our lovely Jack Russell Terrier has not modelled for this painting.
He's not mad at all, just a little stubborn.

Starfish and the Little Creature.

Ever since I started Flora Bowley's "Brave Intuitive You" class, my paintings have been all about play and colors.
These past weeks I've really embraced Flora's idea about letting go of expectation and being brave enough to try something outside my comfort zone.
My color choices have been a lot bolder.
Not having a plan when I start out with a blank canvas or watercolor paper is actually very scary at first.
But I have found that it gives me the freedom to relax and be me.

Water Bubbles.

Today I have tried out a new color combination. Teal, blue, gray, purple and silver mixed in with white to get a lighter shade.
Inspired by the weather forecast in the southern parts of Norway: rain.

The Circus Butterfly.

This painting was a real challenge.
I started out with a totally different colour scheme than what I ended up with. That's what I like about working with acrylic paint: if you don't like, just let it dry and start all over again. Working on thick watercolor paper also makes it a lot easier. I've learned that the thicker the paper, the more paint, water and other media is absorbed. So if you want to try painting on paper, I would recommend going for a thickness of at least 300g/m2.

The Blue Cottage.

This painting was my very first attempt at Mixed Media on Watercolor paper size A3 300g/m2.

Love Bubbles.

I'm so in love with red, pink, yellow and orange that I've created two more pictures with this color combination.

Sunny day in my garden.

It's funny how colors that you don't feel comfortable with suddenly become some of your favorites.
Red, pink, yellow and orange have not been colors that I would normally pick out for a painting, but after attending Flora Bowley's class I have totally change my mind!
These colors are so cheerful and really make me smile. If you combine them with a touch of black, they will pop right out of the painting.

Peace of my Heart.

After my last blogpost I've had no inspiration regarding what to do with the big 120x100 cm canvas I've been working on.

That resulted in two weeks of absolutely no painting at all. I've had dry spells before and the thing that usually gets me out of it is playing in my Art Journal.
I've gone a little larger this time, playing on Watercolor paper A3 300g/m2.

I've had so much fun that I actually have created 8 small paintings so far. This was a great experience.
During the next few weeks I will show you all of them.
